Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Moderately rugged bedrock terrain east of Snowbank Lake, 24 miles east-northeast of Ely, on the northern shore of Ahsub Lake, in the immediate vicinity of a campsite (#1).

Habitat: Local, occasional on the gently sloping lakeshore, in the wave-wash zone, a few inches above the water line. Forming clumps. Growing in moist, detrital, silty soil, amongst cobbles. Mostly in full sun.
Associated Species: Associates include Carex lasiocarpa, C. scoparia, C. cryptolepis, C. buxbaumii, Juncus pelocarpus, J. pylaei, Aster lanceolatus, Viola macloskeyi.
