Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Moderately rugged bedrock terrain east of Snowbank Lake, 24 miles east-northeast of Ely. On the north shore of Ahsub Lake.

Elevation: 460 meters
Verbatim Elevation: 1510 feet
Habitat: Local on moderately steep, 20- to 30-foot, west- to south-facing slopes, at a campsite (#1). Loose groups of plants in shallow silt and detritus over metavolcanic bedrock (Knife Lake formation). Full sun to partial shade of Pinus banksiana, P. strobus, Abies balsamea, and Picea mariana. Forms small, dense clumps and small, loose carpets.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Danthonia spicata, Poa compressa, Rhus glabra, Juniperus communis, Diervilla lonicera, Corydalis sempervirens, Geranium bicknellii.
