United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Rolling to moderately rugged bedrock terrain east of Snowbank Lake, 26 miles east-northeast of Ely, between Ima, Alworth, Magnet, and Jordan Lakes.

Local near the shore of a 5-acre bog pond. Uncommon in a narrow zone of poor conifer swamp, mostly along an old moose trail ~10 yards from the pond. Full sun to partially shaded by stunted Picea mariana and Larix laricina. Saturated peat. Continuous Sphagnum carpets.
Additional associates include Carex pauciflora, Chamaedaphne calyculata, Kalmia polifolia, Ledum groenlandicum, Vaccinium oxycoccos, Sarracenia purpurea, Smilacina trifolia.
