Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Rolling to moderately rugged bedrock terrain east of Snowbank Lake, 26 miles east-northeast of Ely, between Ima, Alworth, Magnet, and Jordan Lakes.

Habitat: Local on the shore of a 5-acre bog pond. Occasional along the boggy (poor fen) margin of the pond, mostly within ~15 yards of the water. Sphagnum carpets. Wet peat, mostly on hummocks raised 4-12 inches above the pond. Loose to rather dense, small patches. Full sun. Somewhat more abundant in areas more heavily altered by beavers.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Dryopteris cristata, Carex lasiocarpa, C. stricta, Spiraea alba, Chamaedaphne calyculata, Vaccinium oxycoccos, Ledum groenlandicum, Alnus incana.
