United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Rolling to moderately rugged bedrock terrain east of Snowbank Lake, 26 miles east-northeast of Ely, between Ima, Alworth, Magnet, and Jordan Lakes.

Habitat:
Local at the edge of a beaver-influenced peatland complex connecting two ~5-acre bog ponds. Small, loose colonies in a semi-terrestrial (~ecotonal) setting, at the base of a quite small, northwest-facing cliff. Moist, silty organic soil, a few inches above the elevation of the wetland. Shaded below young Pinus strobus, Abies balsamea, Picea mariana and Betula papyrifera.
