United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Moderately rugged bedrock terrain east of Snowbank Lake, 26 miles east-northeast of Ely. Above the Jordan Lake narrows (gorge between Jordan and Ima Lakes).

Habitat:
Local on a 60-foot bedrock ridge. Bedrock savanna with a patchy canopy of Populus tremuloides, P. grandidentata, Betula papyrifera, Abies balsamea, and young Pinus strobus. Full sun to partial shade. Large, hollow-centered, circular clumps in shallow soil in a large, subtle depression in the anorthosite bedrock.
