United States, Minnesota, Houston, Vinegar Ridge Forestry Unit. Along the Root River just downstream from the state bike trail bridge, in rugged terrain four miles west of Houston.

Habitat:
Frequent on the lower tier of a large, two-tiered sand bar, ~6 inches above the present water line. Moist sand, exposed in the past few weeks by receding river levels. In a zone dominated by Eragrostis hypnoides.

Additional associates include Eragrostis frankii, Panicum capillare, Cyperus squarrosus, C. bipartitus, C. strigosus, C. erythrorhizos, C. odoratus, Amaranthus tuberculatus, Mollugo verticillata, Myosoton aquaticum, Lindernia dubia, Persicaria lapathifolia, Mimulus ringens, Abutilon theophrasti, Verbena hastata, Bidens cernua, B. frondosa, Plantago major, Salix interior.
