Locality: United States, Minnesota, Houston, Vinegar Ridge Forestry Unit. Along the Root River just downstream from the state bike trail bridge, in rugged terrain four miles west of Houston.

Habitat: Infrequent on lower tier of a large, two-tiered sand bar, ~6 inches above the present water line. Moist sand, exposed in the past few weeks by receding river levels. In a zone dominated by Eragrostis hypnoides. Red-colored plants.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Panicum capillare, Cyperus squarrosus, C. bipartitus, C. strigosus, C. erythrorhizos, C. odoratus, Eragrostis pectinacea, E. frankii, Lindernia dubia, Persicaria lapathifolia, P. hydropiper, Mollugo verticillata, Myosoton aquaticum, Mimulus ringens, Bidens cernua, B. frondosa, Verbena hastata, Plantago major, Abutilon theophrasti, Salix interior.
