Habitat:
Rare on lower tier of a large, two-tiered sand bar, ~6 inches above the present water line. Moist sand, exposed in the past few weeks by receding river levels. In a zone dominated by Eragrostis hypnoides.

Additional associates include Panicum capillare, Cyperus squarrosus, C. bipartitus, C. strigosus, C. erythrorhizos, C. odoratus, Eragrostis pectinacea, E. frankii, Amaranthus tuberculatus, Mollugo verticillata, Myosoton aquaticum, Persicaria lapathifolia, P. hydropiper, Mimulus ringens, Lindernia dubia, Bidens cernua, B. frondosa, Verbena hastata, Veronica americana.
