Uncommon on the lowest terrace of a large, multi-tiered sandbar. ~Level setting ~4-6 inches above the present water line, exposed by receding river levels. In a zone dominated by Eragrostis hypnoides and Lindernia dubia. Deep, coarse sand with very small cobbles (pea gravel size). Full sun.
Additional associates include Cyperus squarrosus, C. odoratus, C. erythrorhizos, C. esculentus, Echinochloa muricata, Eragrostis pectinacea, E. frankii, Panicum capillare, Bidens cernua, Amaranthus tuberculatus, Persicaria lapathifolia, Mollugo verticillata, Mimulus ringens, Mentha arvensis, and seedlings of Salix interior and Acer saccharinum.
