Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Gichi Gami State Trail. Along the Lake Superior shore at Silver Cliff, in rugged bedrock terrain four miles northeast of Two Harbors, above the Gichi Gami State Trail.

Habitat: Rare and very local on the extremely steep mid-slope of a steep 180-foot, south-facing ridge, in a natural setting west of the major portion of this slope that was altered by construction of old Highway 61. Partial shade of Betula papyrifera, Abies balsamea, Cornus rugosa, and Prunus pensylvanica in a bedrock woodland with a patchy canopy and a rather dense shrub layer. A few small clumps encountered, in crevices of dry diabase outcrops (low ~cliffs).
Associated Species: Associates include Woodsia ilvensis, Draba arabisans, Aquilegia canadensis, Solidago hispida, Poa glauca.
