Occasional on a gravel bar, within a few inches above the present water line. Moist, coarse sand amongst small, rounded cobbles, exposed in the past few weeks by receding river levels. Full sun.
Associates include Cyperus squarrosus, C. bipartitus, Eragrostis hypnoides, Poa annua, Panicum capillare, Amaranthus tuberculatus, Lindernia dubia, Bidens cernua, Veronica americana, V. peregrina, Myosoton aquaticum, Ranunculus sceleratus, Salix interior.
