Locality: United States, Minnesota, Fillmore, Along the middle reaches of Diamond Creek three miles east-southeast of Whalan, five miles east of Lanesboro, where the main valley splits into a north and south fork.

Habitat: Frequent on the narrow bottomland between steep 220-foot bluffs. Mesic to fairly wet organic silt, on the margin of a groundwater seepage meadow. Full sun to partial shade of the adjacent degraded hardwood forest (Acer negundo and Ulmus americana). Climbing into the tops of 10- to 25-foot tall Salix interior.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Rubus strigosus, Viburnum lentago, Parthenocissus inserta, Heracleum lanatum, Urtica dioica, Galium aparine, Caltha palustris, Rudbeckia laciniata, Aster prenanthoides, Erigeron annuus, Arctium minus.
