Habitat:
Occasional to locally common, especially on a rather steep, west-facing slope. Full sun to partial shade of Acer negundo. Often forming patches. Large plants take the form of many-stemmed clumps. The lower portions of the stems are densely hairy. Bright yellow, 4-parted flowers. Orange sap. Silty soil.
