Habitat:
Occasional to frequent in oak barrens, on a gently-sloping terrace in a narrow valley between 300-foot bluffs. Full sun to partial shade of young to maturing Quercus velutina. Gentle to moderately steep, south to southwest aspects. Single stems and small clumps, in sparsely-vegetated / open sand. Deep, tan, fine, silty-sand.
