Habitat: Frequent (female plants) on a broad gravel bar exposed by receding river levels. Moist, coarse, gravel and cobbles (mostly 0.5-2 inches diameter), ~8-12 inches above the present water level. Full sun.
Associated Species: Associates include Cyperus diandrus, C. bipartitus, C. squarrosus, C. strigosus, C. odoratus, C. engelmannii, C. erythrorhizos, Lipocarpha micrantha, Eragrostis hypnoides, E. frankii, Panicum philadelphicum, Mollugo verticillata, Euphorbia maculata, Persicaria lapathifolia, Ludwigia palustris, Lindernia dubia, Veronica catenata, Portulaca oleracea, Chenopodium glaucum, Rumex fueginus, Bidens cernua.
