Habitat:
Rare and local at the base of a steep, 180-foot, east-facing bluff, near the mouth of a large tributary ravine. Mesic hardwood forest recovering from past grazing. Canopy of immature Acer saccharum, with occasional Prunus serotina, Juniperus virginiana, Ulmus americana, and Betula papyrifera. Moderately steep slope toe. Rocky silt with numerous earthworms.

Additional associates include Carex blanda, C. hirtifolia, C. laxiculmis, Adiantum pedatum, Cystopteris bulbifera, Sanicula gregaria, Circaea lutetiana, Geum canadense, Ranunculus abortivus, Osmorhiza longistylis, Ribes missouriense.
