Locality: United States, Minnesota, Winona, Whitewater Wildlife Management Area, just west of Whitewater State Park. Along the Middle Fork Whitewater River in rugged forested terrain five miles north of St. Charles.

Verbatim Elevation: 940 feet
Habitat: Local on a narrow, gently sloping terrace ~40 feet above the valley floor, on the lower slope of a 180-foot, west-facing bluff. Mesic hardwood forest. Canopy dominated by Quercus rubra, Q. alba, and Acer saccharum. Subcanopy includes Ostrya virginiana and Acer saccharum. Loose to moderately dense patch of several dozen plants. Silty soil.
Associated Species: Associates include Ranunculus abortivus, Hydrophyllum virginianum, Geranium maculatum, Osmunda claytoniana, Carex convoluta, C. pensylvanica, C. pedunculata, C. hirtifolia.
