Habitat:
Common on an extensive cobble bar. Rounded stones mostly 1-3 inches in diameter, forming a cap over coarse sand, moist to the surface. Level setting 3-6 inches above the water (exposed in the past few weeks by receding river levels). Full sun.

Associates include Poa annua, Panicum capillare, P. philadelphicum, Eragrostis hypnoides, Lipocarpha micrantha, Eleocharis intermedia, Cyperus diandrus, C. odoratus, C. strigosus, C. squarrosus, C. esculentus, Lindernia dubia, Portulaca oleracea, Persicaria lapathifolia, Verbena bracteata, Ludwigia palustris.
