Habitat:
Occasional tiny plants on an extensive cobble bar. Rounded stones mostly 1-3 inches in diameter, forming a cap over coarse sand, moist to the surface. Level setting 3-6 inches above the water (exposed in past few weeks by receding river levels). Full sun. Larger plants occur on the nearby sandy shore.

Associates include Panicum philadelphicum, Eragrostis hypnoides, Poa annua, Cyperus diandrus, C. squarrosus, Lipocarpha micrantha, Eleocharis intermedia, Lindernia dubia, Ludwigia palustris, Verbena bracteata, Chenopodium glaucum, Rumex fueginus, Amaranthus tuberculatus.
