Locality: United States, Minnesota, Pine, Banning State Park. Along the Kettle River gorge 1/2-mile northeast of downtown Sandstone, on the east side of the river just north of the railroad trestle.

Habitat: Quite local on a gently-sloping terrace. Loose patch of several dozen plants in ~degraded mesic woodland. Sparse canopy of Betula papyrifera and Acer rubrum. Fairly dense, tall understory includes Corylus cornuta, Lonicera xbella, and occasional Abies balsamea, Acer rubrum. Partial shade to nearly full sun. Silty sand. Thick thatch.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Rubus strigosus, Rubus sp., Diervilla lonicera, Vaccinium angustifolium, Pteridium aquilinum, Diphasiastrum digitatum.
