Locality: United States, Minnesota, Winona, on the edge of Whitewater State Park and Whitewater Wildlife Management Area. Along the Middle Fork Whitewater River four miles southwest of Elba, five miles north of St. Charles.

Elevation: 299 meters Verbatim Elevation: 980 feet

Habitat: Frequent on extremely steep lower- to mid-slope of a 170-foot, north-facing bluff. Mesic "cold-slope" pine-hardwood forest dominated by Pinus strobus, Betula allegheniensis, Acer saccharum, and Quercus rubra. Understory of Ostrya virginiana and Acer saccharum. Deep silty-sand.

Associated Taxa: Additional associates include Carex backii, Anemone quinquefolia, Hepatica acutiloba, Polygonatum pubescens, Mitella diphylla, Arabis laevigata, Maianthemum canadense, Taxus canadensis.
