Associates include Andropogon gerardii, Sporobolus heterolepis, Sorghastrum nutans, Bromus kalmii, Pycnanthemum virginianum, Liatris pycnostachya, Zizia aurea, Z. aptera, Solidago riddellii, Petalostemum purpureum, Aster oolentangiensis.
