Habitat: southwest shore...forming sparse carpets in area of especially low-statured vegetation on broad, floating, sedge fen mat. On wet, exposed peat and in Sphagnum mosses. Full sun. Associated species include Vaccinium oxycoccus, Chamaedaphne calyculata, Myrica gale, Kalmia polifolia, Carex lasiocarpa, C. limosa, Rhynchospora alba, Drosera rotundifolia, Sarracenia purpurea, Scheuchzeria palustris, Juncus pelocarpus.
