Habitat: immature, rather dense stand of Larix laricina in large tamarack swamp complex. Partial shade. Bouncy substrate, on higher, moist, mossy hummocks. Associates include Carex prairea, C. leptalea, C. interior, Thelypteris palustris, Galium labradoricum, Liparis loeselii, Betula glandulifera, Ribes hirtellum.
