Habitat: growing in bare peat, sometimes with thin Sphagnum, in snowmobile trail. Associated species include Euthamia graminifolia, Thelypteris palustris, Aster umbellatus, Agrostis scabra, Campanula aparinoides, Andromeda glaucophylla, and Vaccinium oxycoccos.
