Habitat:
In small spring fen in fairly rugged terrain ... in five-acre sedge-fen with pools of upwelling groundwater. In ravine between the steep slopes of 150-foot ridge to south and the more gradual slopes of much higher ridge to north. Spongy, deep, saturated peat. Full sun. Associates include Scirpus hudsonianus, Carex exilis, C. limosa, C. lasiocarpa, Rhynchospora alba, R. fusca, Juncus stygius, Muhlenbergia glomerata, Drosera anglica, D. intermedia, Utricularia minor, U. intermedia, Myrica gale, Triadenum fraseri. Upgradient in ravine are swamp comunities dominated by Larix laricina, Thuja occidentalis, and/or Alnus incana.
