Habitat: Infrequent in mesic boreal hardwood-conifer forest on steep, 120ft, north-facing slope in the [river] drainage. Canopy rather open, composed of Picea glauca, Pinus strobus, Abies balsamea, Betula allegheniensis & Thuja occidentalis. Reddish-brown clay. Associates include Aster macrophyllus, Aralia nudicaulis, Festuca obtusa, Rubus parviflorus, Acer spicatum, Corylus cornuta.
