Habitat: near the base of gentle north-facing slope in a dry, overgrown bur oak savanna near a hardwood swamp, canopy dominated by Quercus macrocarpa with Quercus ellipsoidalis. With Carex pensylvanica and Poa pratensis. Much Corylus americana around this relatively open spot.
