Habitat: seepage-fed black ash swamp at the base of a steep, 70ft, south-facing slope. Canopy sparse, dominated by Fraxinus nigra with rare Larix laricina & Betula allegheniensis. Alnus incana common as a tall shrub. In mossy areas. Associates include Carex lepta
