Habitat: in weakly-algific area along base and lower 1/2 of slope on steep, 140 foot, north to east-facing bluff. Rich colluvial silt-loam amongst moist dolomitic talus. Associates include Tilia americana, Acer saccharum, Taxus canadensis, Ulmus thomasii, Corylus cornuta, Viburnum trilobum, Sambucus pubens, Staphylea trifolia, Fraxinus nigra, Cystopteris bulbifera, Adiantum pedatum, Mitella diphylla, Circaea alpina, Arabis shortii, Parthenocissus inserta.
