Habitat: Rolling terrain ... tamarack swamp in inter-drumlin wetland ... Fairly dense canopy dominated by Larix laricina, with scattered Betula papyrifera and Ulmus americana. Mostly in ecotonal zone on outer margin of the swamp. Moist organic substrate. Full to partial shade. Associated species include Phalaris arundinacea, Galium asprellum, G. triflorum, Rubus pubescens, Caltha palustris, Thelypteris palustris, Impatiens capensis, Circaea alpina, Scutellaria lateriflora, Lycopus uniflorus, Cornus rugosa.
