Habitat: in boreal-type calcareous seepage fen along narrow water tract feature in large tamarack swamp complex. Sunny, wet, springy, moss-covered substrate. Associates include Carex lasiocarpa, C. sterilis, C. limosa, C. interior, Scirpus acutus, S. hudsonianus, Eriophorum viridi-carinatum, Sarracenia purpurea, Triglochin maritima, Menyanthes trifoliata, Parnassia glauca, Pedicularis lanceolata, Andromeda glaucophylla, Betula glandulifera, Phragmites australis. Hundreds of dense hummocks in five acres.
