Habitat: in sphagnum bog under sparse canopy of Picea mariana 7 Larix laricina. Low, wet areas between hummocks. Associates include Sarracina purpurea, Smilacina trifoliata, Ledum groenlandicum, Chamaedaphne calculata, Menyanthes trifoliata.
