Habitat: Fire-distrubed area in mixed hardwood-softweed forest (old growth pine forest). Open canopy but understory densely populated-Acer saplings, Corylus, Rubus, Viburnum. Associates: Agastache foeniculum, Osmorhiza claytonia, Lathyrus palustris, and Pteridium aquilinum.
