Habitat: East end of north-facing cliff (12-20 meter ht.). Canopy Betula papyrifera, Thuja occidentalis ... near toe [of cliff], in small exposure of slate. Assoc. spp.: Sorbus decora, Alnus viridis, Woodsia ilvensis, Polypodium virginianum, Taxus canadensis, Drypopteris [sic] fragrans, Pleurosium schreberi.
