Habitat: Strongly-rolling terrain. In mixed pine-hardwood forest, on moderately steep, east-facing slope. Dark sandy soil. In canopy.
Associated Species: Pinus strobus, Populus tremuloides, Ostrya virginiana, and Quercus ellipsoidalis. Additional associates include Corylus cornuta, C. americana, Symphoricarpos albus, Vaccinium angustifolium, Aster macrophyllus, Pteridium aquilinum, Aralia nudicaulis, Maianthemum canadense, Galium boreale, Pyrola secunda, Oryzopsis asperifolia, Carex pensylvanica.
Description: Mature canopy trees 12 - 24 inches D.B.H.
