Habitat: small dry prairie in opening amongst oak woodland. Mid-slope of steep, south-cacing, 70ft. terrace slope. Tan, medium-grained sand. Associates include Penstemon grandiflorus, Viola pedata, Helianthemum bicknellii, Asclepias syriaca, Physalis heterophylla, Ambrosia coronopifolia, Amorpha canescens, Rubus occidentalis, Quercus macrocarpa, Poa pratensis, Sorghastrum nutans.
