Habitat: Growing at the rim of a small, peat-filled depression. Carex lasiocarpa and Chamaedaphne are dominants with Sphagnum and Polytrichum continuous over the majority of the wetland. Betula glandulifera common in patches on the Chamaedaphne mat; Vaccinium macrocarpon and Salix pedicellaris are uncommon to rare.
