Habitat: Relatively open pine forest dominated by Pinus banksiana. Large canopy gaps due to trees blown down in the windstorms of 1994-1996. Dense shrub layer dominated by Alnus and Pteridium aquilinum, grasses, and in some locations Rubus and Vaccinium spp.
