dry-mesic forest with a patchy canopy of Acer rubrum, Abies balsamea and Populus tremuloides. Lonicera oblongifolia, Aralia nudicaulis, Aster macrophyllus and Carex pennsylvanica common below. Sandy, rocky soils.
