Habitat: Open maple basswood forest in canopy opening. Shaded by Acer spicatum, Prunus serotina. On wet sand talus in humus beneath sandstone rock outcrop overhang. Wet covered with liverworts & bryophytes etc
Associated Species: Associates: Dicentra cucullaria, Cystopteris bulbifera, Asarum canadensis, Hydrophyllum virginianum.
Description: Plants with dimorphic leaves releasing spores.
Notes: Fifty fronds in one 25 sq. cm area
