Habitat:
on margin of small wetland in rolling bedrock terrrain ... Shallow, half-acre depression surrounded by paper birch forest along primitive portage trail ... Full sun to partial shade of Acer rubrum and Fraxinus nigra, and Betula papyrifera on wetland margin. Forming the dominant cover in 10-to 20-foot wide band around outer zone of wetland. Moist rocky substrate. Forms loose clumps. Associated species include Carex vesicaria, Iris versicolor, Maianthemum canadense, Scutellaria galericulata, Mentha arvensis.
