Habitat: lower portion of steep, 60 foot, north-facing slope of gravely esker; occur above boggy wetland which fills the kettle hole at the base of the slope. Mesic oak forest on slope dominated by Tilia americana, Betula papyrifera, Quercus macrocarpa, and Q. rubra. understory of Ostrya virginiana & Acer saccharum. Associates include Amphicarpaea bracteata, Aster macrophyllus, Athyrium angustum, Thalictrum dioicum, Solidago flexicaulis, Carex pedunculata.
