Habitat: In mesic hardwood forest dominated by red oak and basswood. Sugar maple was becoming a dominant species in the forest as well. Plants were growing on the more or less level ground near the creek. Associates include: Cryptotania canadensis, Sanicula gregaria, Carex blanda, Geranium maculatum, Hyrophyllum virginianum, Sanguinaria canadensis.
