Habitat: Common in well chanelled floodplain on modern alluvium forming small terraces of [river]. Poorly drained channel with standing water and saturated mud. Bare ground 5-25% cover. Upland canopy of silver maple and bur oak with green ash. Associates: Aster lanceolatus, Onoclea sensibilis, Laportea canadensis.
