Habitat: Moderately rugged forested moraine along [creek]...dry Jack Pine woodland. Patchy canopy dominated by Pinus banksiana, with occasional P. resinosa. Patchy understory dominated by Abies balsama. Sandy soil with thick moss and lichen carepts. Level to sloping areas. Partial shade. Associates include Andropogon gerardii, Schizachne purpurascens, Oryzopsis pungens, Maianthemum canadense, Arctostaphylos uva-ursi, Gaultheria procumbens, Vaccinium angustifolium.
