Habitat: sedge fen variously dominated by Carex utriculata or C. lasiocarpa. Quaky saturated peat. In continuous Sphagnum spp. moss carpets. Mostly in full sun; some plants in partial shade of scattered Alnus incana or young Larix laricina. Additional associates include Carex lacustris, C. canescens, Lysimachia thyrsiflora, Thelypteris palustris, Dryopteris cristata, Calla palustris, Spiraea tomentosa, Chamaedaphne calyculata.
