Habitat:
in rich Maple-Basswood forest. Acer saccharum, Fraxinus nigra, Tilia americana canopy; Acer saccharum, Ribes cynosbati, Ribes americana, and Ulmus cf. rubra common in the understory. Other associates include Carex pedunculata, Mitella diphylla, Uvularia grandiflora, Osmorhiza claytonii, and Asarum canadense.
