Locality: United States, Minnesota, Koochiching, Located in Smokey Bear State Forest bounded by Big Fork River and Hwy. 10 to the west; Rainy River and Hwy. 11 to the north; Littlefork River and Hwy. 9 to the east, and Hwy. 1 to the south. Pelland is the closest town 9 km to the northeast. Site was accessed via helicopter drop.

Habitat: Occurs in a northern rich ramarack swamp native plant community formed from borad-scale southwest to northeast drainage from a bog crest 2 km to the southwest and localized upland drainage from a northern bedrock shrubland within 50 m to the south and southwest. Individual growing on Sphagnum moss hummock elevated 30-40 cm from surface water; water pH 5.8. Heavily shaded by Larix laricina, Picea mariana, and Alnus incana subsp. rugosa. T69N R26W NWSE Sec. 15
Associated Species: Rhododendron groenlandicum, Vaccinium myrtilloides, Caltha palustris, Calla palustris, Scutellaria galericulata, Rumex britannica, Lysimachia thyrsiflora, Lycopus uniflorus, Symphyotrichum puniceum var. puniceum, Rubus pubescens, Dryopteris carthusiana, D. cristata, Iris versicolor, and Calamagrostis canadensis.
